The Rt. Rev. Ian T. Douglas, Bishop Diocesan

On October 24, 2009 at the 225th Annual Diocesan Convention, the Rev. Dr. Ian T. Douglas was elected to be the next bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. He was elected on the second ballot from among four nominees. Douglas was the Angus Dun Professor of Mission and World Christianity at Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts and an associate priest at St. James’s Church, Cambridge, Mass. The bishop-elect began work for the Diocese of Connecticut on Feb. 1. He was ordained and consecrated on April 17, 2010 at the Koeppel Community Sports Center, Trinity College, Hartford. 2009 resume PDF here.
Bishop Douglas received an honorary degree from Episcopal Divinity School in May 2010. Bishop Douglas served on the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) as a priest and on the Standing Committee of the Anglican Communion from the ACC; as a bishop he continues to serve on the Standing Committee of the Anglican Communion. Upon his consecration, he resigned from the Executive Council of The Episcopal Church.
